Australian research

Read news about other Australian equine research.

The majority of research into horse health and husbandry in Australia is funded the Rural Industries Research and Development Corportation. Their listing of current projects includes research into anaesthesia, musculo-skeletal injury associated with racing, mare fertility and drug excretion (among other topics). Reports on past research and the contact details of current project investigators are also available on this site.

International research

Equine research is currently taking place in many countries around the world. For just a few examples of research projects currently under way, visit the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation website, or read more about the Morris Animal Foundation.

Horse health research has taken a huge step forward in 2007 with the sequencing and assembly of the horse genome. Projects which utilise this new information are listed at the University of Kentucky Horse Genome Project website.
